Reasons to choose Cambridge American Cemetery

The University of Cambridge donated 30.5 acres to the Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial location in England. It is situated on a slope with woodland on the west and south sides.
The graves of 3,811 of our battle dead are interred here, with 5,127 names on the Walls of the Missing. The names of individuals who have been recovered and recognised are marked with rosettes.
The majority of those who died were killed in the Battle of the Atlantic or in the strategic air bombardment of northwest Europe.

The wide mall with its reflecting pools spans eastward from the flagpole platform near the main entrance. The vast, sweeping curve of the burial area across the grass is best viewed from the mall.
The Walls of the Missing run down the south side, and the memorial, which includes a chapel, two massive military maps, stained glass windows with state insignia and military decorations, and a mosaic ceiling tribute honouring the dead of our air forces, is at the far end.

In May 2014, a new 4,000-square-foot tourist centre opened. Visitors will obtain a greater knowledge of this vital battle that helped to the Allied triumph in Europe during World War II through interpretive exhibits that include personal tales, images, films, and interactive displays.

Ruined castles stand alone on isolated hilltops.

With startling frequency, mediaeval cathedrals, princely palaces, and extravagant stately mansions appear.
And each English city, town, and village has its own unique story to tell: a gigantic historical epic of monarchs and commoners, industrialists and innovators, eccentrics, dreamers, and rebels as intriguing – and startling – as anything Shakespeare, Dickens, or JK Rowling could concoct.
